The IIGP 2.0 Open Innovation Challenge 2019 received 1,600+ applications from more than 700 cities across India focusing on 20+ diverse focus sectors, namely: Advanced Materials, Agriculture, Education and Skills, Rural Livelihood and more.
The Top 50 teams were shortlisted and attended the week-long Bootcamp at IIM Ahmedabad. The 2018 winners of the University Challenge also joined the Top 50. At the end of the Bootcamp, the teams participated in the qualifying pitching round where the final shortlist was recommended for the next stage.
A total of 42 teams qualified – 38 teams from the Open Innovation Challenge 2019 and 4 teams from the University Challenge 2018 – for the Innovators Competition in New Delhi on 16-17 July 2019. The competition was divided into two tracks – Track 1 and Track 2; with 22 teams pitching in Track 1 and 20 teams in Track 2.
Pitching to a jury consisting of subject-matter experts, IIGP 2.0 stakeholders, implementation partners and industry members; the teams were evaluated on problem identification, technological innovation, financial sustainability, operational scalability, roadmap, team and unique value proposition. Finally, the Top 16 teams were selected as the winners of Open Innovation Challenge 2019.
With the Open Innovation Challenge, the IIGP 2.0 aims to encourage, identify, support and incubate ground-breaking science & technology-led innovations by Indian start-ups that seek to solve the complex challenges in the industrial and social sectors of India.
The Top 16 winning teams were felicitated at a grand awards ceremony at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi on 17th July 2019. We wish the teams a successful entrepreneurial journey in transforming the nation’s social and industrial sectors.
